ALISA KARIN Interview: Photo Sanner Self Portraits

Check out our interview with photographer Alisa Karin about how she creates her self portrait with a simple scanner.

ALISA KARIN Interview

What moments were you trying to capture?

Right now I’m shooting very chaotic. I try to recreate whatever pops up into my head or my dreams. Since I was a child I tried to capture “the perfect” moment from my day. The one imagined would be in a movie.

Do you have a good story from taking any of these pictures?

A story no, but 2 of the photos “closed a mermaid in a tank” who are similar to each other, were taken with a scanner. My dad bought it recently and I had to try it immediately. So I’ve just found a new toy to play with.

Are you looking for anything specific when taking photos?

I look for a soul, colour, passion.

What do someone’s lips tell you about a them?

Lips could be very intriguing.

Lips are “the gates of Hell”. They could tell you how much love you keep inside. How much hate there is, when they open. But are deadly beautiful.

Anything go wrong while taking any of these?

Well, I was close to suffocate myself in the first one, for sure..

What’s the best memory you have with your camera?

That it grew up with me, is still growing with me. This whole 2020 was a very long trip for me, my camera was there with me through every step of the way. It gave me the start I needed.

Do you remember getting your first camera?

Yes. My first DSLR is my current one. I got it when I was 15 or 16. I got it for my birthday. It still has a lot of potential and for now, we are both getting along and doing a great job.

We’re there any photos that got away?

Yes, many.. But at the end of the day, I would still smile and be proud because the ideas come authentic. Big deal I didn’t get to have it on paper. I have it in my head. And that’s a place with lots and lots of ideas who are waiting for their turn. So, the one that got away would just have to get in line.
